THE STORY

Sometimes one floral installation becomes the centre of a ceremony.

For Lisette and Ruben, it was the arch. Lisette loved roses and eucalyptus, and my brief was to bring those elements together on a wooden structure at Orangerie Mattemburgh.

The frame was asymmetrical, with one side taller than the other. Rather than hide that shape, I wanted the flowers and greenery to follow it, letting the arrangement feel as though it belonged to the structure.

Behind it, the orangery’s glass walls opened onto the surrounding greenery. The flowers, the wood and the landscape came together in a setting that already had so much character.

THE TRANSLATION

Knowing where to leave space

The arch came into the plans later. Lisette had already bought the flowers and left much of the design up to me. She knew she wanted roses and eucalyptus, but she didn’t want a fully covered arch.

I started with the wooden frame itself. Its asymmetrical shape gave the installation its character, so I chose to work with that line rather than hide it. I kept the long top beam largely bare, concentrating the flowers and greenery around the sides and allowing the wood to remain part of the design.

The result was an arrangement that felt organic and considered, with enough space for the structure to speak for itself.

THE FLOWERS

Roses, eucalyptus and delicate white flowers brought softness and movement to the wooden frame.

The flowers were gathered in fuller clusters along the sides, with greenery following the shape of the structure. The open beam remained visible, creating a balance between the warmth of the wood and the natural texture of the flowers.

Against the glass walls of the orangery, the arch became a focal point without needing to fill every space.

A NOTE FROM LISETTE & RUBEN

"Manuela could, and it is truly beautiful"

A super beautiful and sturdy backdrop for my wedding, provided by MK Floral Atelier.
I am very happy with it! I asked several florists to do this, but they couldn't.
Manuela could, and it is truly beautiful!
